The Jujurha Education Centre remains, now more than ever, a beacon of hope in Nqileni village as it offers excellent education to all preschoolers aged 3 – 6 years. It continues to demonstrate to parents and the entire community the highest standards of education to which all children are entitled and an excellent work ethic. The reputation of the Jujurha Preschool has spread to neighbouring villages and far beyond and the Bulungula Incubator (BI) is therefore expanding its projects to facilitate the establishment of excellent ECD centres in these communities.
2011 has been a year of crisis in education, most particularly in the Eastern Cape, resulting in the intervention of the national Minister of Basic Education. Parliament placed the Eastern Cape Department of Education under administration and sent in task teams to rebuild a collapsed system. Research shows that ‘at least 1 year of quality preschool education will assist poorer learners especially’. The role of the Bulungula Incubator therefore remains absolutely vital in every facet of education, situated as we are in the heart of these remote villages.
