Brainwave & The BI, a partnership for ECD Development
Sometime last year (I forget exactly when) Kirsten Koetsier and Mert Black of the Deutsche Bank (DB) Foundation mentioned that I really needed to meet Lanette Hattingh of Brainwave Careers. DB has been a long time and generous funder and supporter of the Bulungula Incubator (BI) and Brainwave Careers http://www.brainwave-projects.co.za/ is also one of the beneficiaries of the Foundation.
With all the activities going on last year, I took my time about getting a meeting organised (as one does 🙂 but once I got around to it, I realised just what Mert and Kirsten had been on about! Lanette is a real firebrand Award-winning entrepreneur with a gazillion years experience as an Educationist and Educational Psychologist who has put her skills to very good use in a range of Educational activities, including Early Childhood Development, Teacher Training and School Readiness Evaluation.
DB then had the brilliant idea of funding Brainwave Careers to run a programme onsite, at the Bulungula Incubator training our Home Based Caregivers and Parents in their “Ready Steady Learn” programme, which will boost the quality of our ECD @ Home Project for the 0-3 year olds, our ECD Practitioners at the new preschools in the formal NQF4 qualification, and our ECD practitioners who already have NQF4 in becoming Trainers themselves thereby building the capacity of the BI as a hub for ECD development in the region.
Brainwave Careers also have the expertise to assist us in School Readiness Assessments and assessing children of any age to ensure normal and optimal development. We are very excited about this new phase in ECD Development at the BI: the initial idea by Deutsche Bank was an inspired one and our partnership with Brainwave Careers looks to be a brilliant development all round!
