Learning from Philani

3rdHB II

During February this year, we were afforded the wonderful opportunity to visit and learn from Philani in Cape Town. Philani is a well established NGO in the Health sector with a strong reputation.

The aim of our visit was to build on the skills we learned in the Mentor Mothers Programme, including monitoring and evaluation and reporting methods of our Home based care work. The first step was to visit homes serviced by Philani Mentor Mothers. Each of us were allowed to a Mentor Mother and observe folder completion anf reporting.

We were then taught how to collate and store the information. Natalie, the Health Manager handed out information packs that informed us on how to conduct home visits, specifically what to observe when on home visits. It was an extremely fruitful visit for our team.
