The Enhanced Livestock Productivity Project is a new project to be established in the Xhora Mouth Administrative Area.  This project aims to improve agricultural productivity in our region as it is one of most important economic activities here. The current method of managing livestock is not increasing the number of cattle and is not generating income for the farmer. With this project we hope to increase the number of cattle in our area as well as dramatically improve the health of the livestock.

For more information on this project, click here: Enhanced-Livestock-Productivity-Project.

The Vulindlela Scholarship Programme is always in need of donations. The scholarship programme finances the schooling of 7 children from our community to attend a good school in Mthatha from grade 1 to at least grade 12. The fund finances all schooling, living and traveling expenses. The children on the Vulindlela Scholarship Programme are progressing well and are currently in Grade 6 at Vela in Mthatha.

For more information, click here: The Vulindlela Scholarship Programme

Our online interactive technology programme – iiTablet Tshomiz – that we are running in our primary schools needs your help.  We believe that through technology support, our children can leapfrog the many challenges of an under-resourced schooling environment.

Hi Sixolisiwe. Thank you for the enquiry but unfortunately, we are not set up for short term volunteers. Our programmes require longer commitment. We, therefore, consider volunteers only for a minimum 6 months stay with a preference for volunteers who can commit for 1 year.

      thanks Rejane

Hi Larah. Thank you for your interest in our work! We do have volunteers assist us with some of our programees but we only consider volunteers who can commit to a minimum of 6 months with preference for 1 year volunteers.

There are organisations that run specific volunteer programmes, one I can recommend is Volunteer Africa: http://www.volunteerafrica.co.za/ They are set up specifically to help induct short term volunteers immediately and help them make the most of their stay.

You can also try Axium, an organisation based just north of us on the Wild Coast that does great work with the schools in the area http://www.axiumeducation.org

      thanks Rejane

  3. Hi there,
I’m very interetsed in what you are providing for your community, I’m 32 years old never married with no dependants and commitments. I’ve read through your website and I think its amazing that there are people that give back and I would love nothing more than to be a part of what you are doing.
I’m not qualified in anything but I have a heart of gold and am very passionate about helping others. Skills I do have is I’m very good with my hands.

I have more time on my hands than I know what to do with so If you need a volunteer for ANYTHING, please PLEASE feel free to contact me, I live in Cape Town, Hout Bay and would make my way to where I’m need as soon as you let me know.
    Yours sincerely

Hi Sean. Thank you for your interest in our work. We do have opportunities for volunteers but these are limited by our organisational capacity. However if your skill set and the time you’d like to work with us matches one of our projects, we may be able to use your help! Please email me at rejane@bulungulaincubator.org with your CV and your time contraints/parameters. Thanks rejane

      Hi Annette

Thank you for your interest in the Bulungula Incubator! We do not have general volunteer positions. We prefer to match the skills and time requirements of volunteers with the requirements of projects that are running at the time that the volunteer wants to visit. We have limited capacity to accommodate volunteers since we are in a remote rural area therefore there are only a few places available every year. The specific skills that the volunteer brings is very important and I’d suggest that you email your CV to me first (rejane@bulungulaincubator.org) with information about when you’d like visit and what your specific interests are. As I’m sure you’ll understand, we try to employ members of the local community as far as possible and volunteers assist with skills that we cannot procure locally. We also prefer volunteers that can commit for a good length of time: 1 year/6months, at least a minimum of 3 months.

      best, rejane

      Hi Kiki

Thanks for your interest in our organisation! Unfortunately, all our volunteer spaces will be full during the time that you’re visiting. You are, of course, welcome to visit our offices, meet with our project managers and see the work we’re doing in the area. I’m not sure if you have already had a look at the websites of the Bulungula Lodge and of our homestays where you can stay when you visit: Bulungula Lodge http://www.bulungula.com or http://www.bulungulahomestays.com, for a true village experience.

      cheers

    Hi there,

It looks like you are getting flooded with requests but I thought I’d try anyway: I’d like to volunteer too! I just finished a degree in Human Biology and would love to volunteer before I start Med school in January 2012. I could help teach Biology or Science. I also worked as a hotel receptionist while traveling the world – so, I could do accommodation admin type stuff too 🙂

    Thanks a bunch,
    Sam
